Demise of Sonex LLC

As most of you Sonex builders and owners out there you have watched Mark Schaible’s announcement on youtube and elsewhere. I also am incredibly saddened to see a man broken both emotionally and financially. If I could help, I would. I hate to see a great little aircraft fade away, I am a L2 maintenance engineer based in Adelaide South Australia. I have about 360 odd hours of flight experience in my own scratch built Sonex A model that I built. I am unsure of how many unfinished projects that are located around Australia. I sincerely would like to help. Please make contact with me either by phone or email if you are interested in finishing off your aircraft and are looking for help or guidance. Obviously the world is in a bit of a mess at the moment, but I would like to offer some hope.

Gentlemen’s tour of SA, Vic and NSW

Brian Ham and Peter Anson are trying to organise a tour, not limited to Sonex aircraft.  Nominal starting point would be Goolwa in SA.  From there we would fly along the SA and Victorian coast, up the NSW coast far enough for a reasonably easy passage inland and return inland.  Participants could join anywhere along the loop.  The intention would be to take 3 or 4 days so as to avoid long flying hours and small bladders.  The whole loop would be about 1500 NM.  Nothing has been finalised as of yet, just talking about it and want to see if anyone is interested in joining in.  Proposed time is late September to mid October.  At this stage we are just trying to see if there is any interest.

I personally am going to be a bit of social butterfly during September and October with the William Creek Flyin plus going over for the MotoGP in late October. However I am sure that a few of us from Gawler would welcome the excuse to go for a fly to Goolwa if only just to say helo. Contact Peter if you are interested in joining in.

Assorted Hardware – Free, Yes Free! (+postage)

Photo for illustration purposes – even Ian doesn’t know whats in the boxes yet…

Ian Shaughnessy has saved a collection of hardware (nuts, bolts, rivets, clamps etc.) from being thrown out and would like to give them away to builders who need them.

    Give away. Plus postage.

Still unpacking boxes, so he may have what you want.

Click here to Email Ian to see if he has the ones you are after before you buy the ones with the gold thread and silly postage from the usual overseas suspects.
